Sustainable Water

Clean water for the people of Esoitnarok

The Maasai of Esoitnarok, Tanzania, live in a land marked by black volcanic stone and endless sky. But beneath the beauty lies a daily struggle - access to safe, clean water. Together, we can change that.

Support Sustainable Water

The Challenge

Water scarcity in Esoitnarok

The name Esoitnarok means “black stone” in the Maasai language, describing the volcanic rock that covers much of the land. While striking, this land is dry and harsh. The Maasai people, who live a pastoral lifestyle dependent on their cattle, often walk long distances to fetch water from unsafe sources like ponds or shallow wells.

Our solution

In 2025, with incredible support, we completed a solar-powered borehole in Esoitnarok. Located at the center of the community, this well now provides clean and reliable water to hundreds of Maasai families and their livestock.

Unlike traditional diesel pumps, solar power allows us to deliver water in a way that is more sustainable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly. In a village where families once faced daily hardship due to the lack of clean water for toilets and showers, this well has become a lifeline—delivering running water to latrines and greatly improving hygiene and sanitation throughout the community.

sustainability and ongoing needs

While the borehole has been completed, sustainability requires ongoing care.

Costs remain for:

  • Reverse Osmosis System - for desalinating the water

  • Maintenance – keeping pumps, pipes, and tanks in working condition

  • Backup energy – lithium batteries for pumping during extended cloudy periods and overnight

  • Local management – training and equipping community members to manage the system long-term

Your continued support ensures that the well remains a blessing for generations to come.

building a future that lasts

support today

Together, we can ensure that the Maasai people of EsoitNarok never have to face a day without clean water again.

beyond water

Clean water means better health, stronger families, and brighter futures. But beyond meeting physical needs, we also share with the Maasai the living water of the Gospel, offering hope not only for today but for eternity.
